The Fighter within...

My dad has been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. RCC translates to kidney cancer. After extensive research on his cancer, I wanted to explain to everyone the basics of cancer, and how one's diet can affect their body.

Every adult has some cancer cells in their body and they CAN develop new cancer cells. This is usually no big deal because the immune system is usually capable of dealing with a number of cancer cells.

A person "gets cancer" when there is an imbalance between the number of new cancer cells and the strength of the immune system. Cancer is caused by an abnormally high number of cancer cells being formed or the immune system is weaker than it should be, or maybe BOTH.

When you see something being blamed as a "cause of cancer," it's usually something which can cause more than a normal number of cancer cells to form (i.e exposure to asbestos, cigarette smoke, chemicals) or weakens the immune system. Simply stated, the things that "cause cancer" are things that disrupt the balance between the number of cancer cells in the body and the strength their immune system.

But, please remember, the number of cancer cells in a person's body nor the strength of their immune system has anything to do with the actual formation of new cancer cells.

I'm going to compare this to an infestation of termites in your home. You call Pest Control to get rid of the termites (your immune system) and the number of termites in your home is a function of how fast they breed/spread (the number of cancer cells in your body).

But the Pest Control man, nor how fast the termites breed has anything to do with why the termites got inside your home in the first place.

Learning what causes a normal cell to turn into a cancer cell is the equivalent of learning how the termites originally got inside your home. Once inside your home, the battle between the Pest Control man and the termite breeding begins.

Why is knowing how a normal cell changes into a cancer cell important? It's important because cancer treatments can be designed to turn cancer cells back into normal cells.

It's important to understand because an understanding of how cancer cells form in the first place can help you understand why some cancer treatments are better than others. It helps you understand what you can do to contribute to defeating it.

You need to know your focal point (the location of cancer cells) to know where to aim to kill those cancer cells. The Pest Control man needs to know where the termites are located to kill the termites.

Which is why I want to express how important it is for everyone to change their diet. We'll refer to it as preventive maintence.

My dad and I are on a Vegan diet, as of Saturday. We'll no longer consume alcohol, meat, dairy products, sugar, caffeine, or salt. It'll rid is body of toxins, kill cancer cells, help produce new cells, and help him remain in good health. I'll explain the "in's & out's" of his diet on a later day.

Work is starting to get busy...

I love ME!

We have a very short time on this planet, and we waste so many hours not really enjoying what time we have. ~ Loretta LaRoche

I've been pretty stressed out for over the past year or so now due to an unhealthy relationship. No matter what I did, it was never good enough. I literally beat myself up on the inside trying to make this person happy. I always felt as if I did something wrong and a few times I did, but only after he had wronged me. Does this justify my actions? No. People fight in relationships and hurt each other during the process.

Don't change yourself for someone else it will only lead to resentment. You'll grow angry with the person. Don't get in a relationship thinking they will change. You'll only grow frustrated because they won't change.

If he's a player don't think he won't play you. If she's a gold-digger don't think she won't use you. Granted there are a few exceptions:-)

Not long ago, I took the time to compose a handwritten letter for an ex-boyfriend expressing my feelings towards him. He later chose to expose the letter via the internet being mean-spirited. But if I were to have done the same thing, he would claim that I'm evil and hateful and blah, blah, blah. It was okay for him to do certain things, but not me. Go figure!

If someone doesn't except you exactly as you are, they aren't the one for you. You can't do anything to make them love, like you, or want to be with you. It's a sign to hit the road and find/wait for someone else who will.

This treatment isn't his fault. It's mine. I allowed it. Although he proclaims to be a compassionate, forgiving, and inspirational guru. He may be that for other people, but for me, he's my kryptonite.

Now this person is no longer apart of my life, and things have been much more peaceful. I don't feel as if I'm constantly walking on egg shells.

He actually got mad at me for nodding my head at church. He said it was embarrassing because I was taking the attention away from the pastor and placing it upon myself. I wasn't nodding my head insanely but in slight agreeance with the pastor's sermon.

He belittled my dreams, my goals, and my life in general. I grew tired of it. I did as much as I could and put him number 1 in my life and I expected the same in return but I never received it.

Don't allow yourself to get in the position I allowed myself to be in, it's a deep hole and it's extremely hard to escape.

It's not you, it's them. Love yourself first, and everything will fall into place. Don't give up on your dreams, goals, aspirations in life for someone else. A person who truly loves you will never ask you to change anything about yourself. (unless you're doing something to harm yourself or being self-destructive) They will support you no matter what.

Once you get rid of these type of people in your life, you can enjoy it - your way!

Our way of thinking is similar to a computer program

Since I've been on my vegetarian diet, my mental clarity has escalated. During this process, I've realized we ARE very similar to the events in the movie "The Matrix".

What we eat is merely a luxury. We don't actually need the food. We need the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients for our body to function properly. The less waste (after the nutrients have been extracted) our body has to digest, the better your body will feel. You have less toxins building up on the inside polluting your temple. (aka your body) Food isn't required to taste good, but we've spoiled ourselves with spices, dressings, and all that jazz to spruce up what is needed for our body to function at it's highest level of efficiency.

The most vital organ is your brain. Your brain controls everything. Similar to the way The Matrix controls everything. What codes are encrypted is what the system will perform. What you put in your body determines how your body will perform.

Which brings me to my next thought... People are creatures of habit and comfort. You keep repeating the same behavior because it's what has been programmed into your brain.

A person who's involved in an abusive relationship, may end the relationship, but end-up in another abusive relationship. The problem isn't the abuser, the problem is the person who's allowing themselves to be abused. The abused has a choice to leave, and not allow someone to treat them this way. But once again, it's all they know. They have an addiction to be told they're not lovable, and somehow feeling this pain makes them feel loved. This is their comfort zone and habit.

The question is "What need are they trying to satisfy?"...

If you can figure out the need you can fix their behavior. Similar to if your computer has a virus, you can find it, fix it, and save your computer before it crashes.

The quality of your relationships is an important measure of our self-worth. Those closest to us, need to enhance our well-being with support, time, attention, and genuine care. Not destroy our sense of value with criticism, lack of support, lack of interest, or rejection, etc...

Everyone, especially adults, have a right to who they allow into their life. It's important to have your own walls, shields, or protection to keep these people from polluting your mind. My computer has McAfee to prevent it from being infected with a virus. Create a method to prevent your brain from being affected by all the pollution of the world.

You're responsible for your body's programming. You create it. And if you risk going out there into the world without protection, it will boggle you down with infection. <----That's an original quote right there!

Hope you all have a fabulous day!!!

xoxo

Have you ever heard the story of "The 3 Little Pigs"? Of course you have...
The big bad wolf was able to blow down the first 2 houses and eat the little pigs due to their weak foundation and materials. The last pig, however, was smart and built his with a strong foundation and material - BRICK! The wolf's attempts were unsuccessful and the little pig survived.

This story (now an analogy in my blog) can be applied to many areas of your life. You need the right tools to survive certain situations. Your mind is your greatest tool. Use it wisely.

"The body cannot live without the mind" ~ Morpheous

When used correctly, you can accomplish or overcome anything. When you deny yourself something, you make your mind stronger. The mind trains the body how to function without what it craves.

If you want to quit smoking, you just do it. You're in control of your mind. You tell yourself NO! You deny what it craves. This will push you one step closer to achieving your goal.

I'm not going to say it's easy, but this is where your building starts. Are you going to build it out of sticks or bricks? It's pointless to say you're going to do something and NOT do it. It's pointless to build something out of sticks when you know it won't last, if it even upholds in the first place. You have a choice when it comes to these decisions whether you believe it or not. Choose to use bricks.

Keep your word to yourself. Prove to yourself you can do it. You CAN do it! Start laying those bricks knowing that each one will shelter you from harm in the long run. It will protect what is most sacred to you - YOU!

Who likes being referred to as weak? When you build-up your self-discipline, you become stronger. You won't pick-up a cigarette to light it. You won't call your ex when you're lonely. You won't go out when you don't have the money. You won't buy unnecessary material things instead of pay your bills, etc... You will have trained yourself to tell yourself NO.

Eventually, you'll have less stress in your life due to your discipline. Your bills will be paid on time, if at all. You'll find other things to occupy your time during your lonely moments. You won't have any addictions to kick. You'll have less health problems. You'll feel better about yourself.

Sure we all want things, but do we need them? NO!

I was tempted to buy a new car a few weeks ago, but I decided to stick with what I have because it's almost paid for and I don't have many problems out of it. I didn't need a new car, but a new one would have been nice.

I decided to try a vegetarian lifestyle for 30 Days for humanitarian reasons but also to build my self-discipline. It's been a challenge, but I like not having the luxury, anymore. Eating is a necessity, but the actual food is a luxury. Similar to the oatmeal type substance they eat in the movie "The Matrix".

I've decided to coach my son's soccer team this year. I don't know much about soccer but this gives me more of an incentive to learn and bond with my son. I believe it'll encourage him to do better. He listens to me and I'll be able to train him while I'm learning the skill. I want him to have fun but also be the best he can be at everything he does in life. All of this will be implanted into his mind.

This is all a process in which I'll become closer to God. Something I've tried to do my whole life, and I've finally found MY way. I believe you can find your way, too.

Would you eat your dog?

Warning: Today's blog is nothing fancy.

I decided to embark on a 30-Day Vegetarian diet. I'm on day 9 and finally feeling normal. The first 2 days were easy. By the third day, I started feeling withdrawal symptoms which is known as a detoxification period.

I've experienced stomach pains, light-headed moments, weakness, and fatigue. I wasn't going to cave on my experiment choice, but I wasn't sure if I were going to stick to this diet after the 30 days were over.

I've been told you feel healthier, more energetic, etc... But you have to go through the pain to feel the good. Your body is healing, reprogramming, and learning to function with the new nutrients you've been supplying it and without meat. In my 27 years, I've always eaten meat, so I understand why it hurts. My body isn't used to it.

Change is a process. It takes time accepting the new things and saying goodbye to the old things. You're going to experience alittle pain in the process of change. It's good for you. If you always stick with the same routine, you're never going to grow. You'll always stay the same. We can all make improvements in certain areas of our lives, and the only way you're going to improve is to change a particular routine.

I'm certain this change will do my body good. It's a lesson on sticking with my commitments. It builds self-discipline which only adds to your character and credibility. It also changes my body's normal routine of functioning. I'm confident my body will benefit from this change. It's forcing it to release years of toxins. Which will help increase it's level of efficiency.

Anyone who has a habit they want to kick, you've gotta tough it out during the painful beginning, if you want to achieve your goal. Be strong. It's all in your mind.

Seriously, I use the idea of eating your dog to stick with this process. You wouldn't eat your dog, would you? Why eat meat?

You can do it!

Changing the world one person at a time...

"Men build too many walls, and not enough bridges." Sir Isaac Newton

It feels good to receive encouragement. It feels even better to know someone truly believes in you. Sometimes someone else's extention of trust can make all the difference in the world. It can provide the extra push, especially when you feel like giving up.

What you must realize is you can do the same for others! You can help them rise to the challenge, discover their hidden potential, and basically help make contributions that benefit us all.

When people make good decisions and strive for excellence we all benefit from it.

How does it make you feel to hear someone say "you can do it", "I believe in you", "You have what it takes to succeed", "You're doing a great job", etc...? Simply hearing the words create the ability for someone to become successful in their goals.

People who extend their trust to you are viewed as mentors, role models, leaders, and heroes. I become overwhelmed with emotions of gratitude when I think about the people who have made a difference in my life.

If you're a parent, think of the difference it makes in your child when you provide support towards their personal goals. If you're at their sporting events cheering them on. I know Tre's little eyes light-up when he hears me yell or cheer him on during his events. He loves to hear he's done a great job on everything he achieves. Even beating a particular score or "bad guy" on his Wii or DS. LOL He knows I believe in him. I want to instill inside of him he can achieve anything in life. He has the power to move mountains.

I'm striving for excellence, not just for myself, but also for my son. I'm his role model, his hero, his mother, his backbone for support, etc... Instead of building walls, I want to help build bridges in life. I want you to do the same.

The Devil never changes form. He only changes you.

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." ~ Matthew 7:13

The hardest part of sustaining a path of eternal life and everlasting peace, is being alone. Your friends are no longer your friends, because your priorites have shifted. The temptation to fall into your "old ways" starts to creep back into your life. This is the Devil trying to get you. Evil will always embrace you with open arms and guide you, faster than the speed of light, down a road of destruction.

You've got to stay strong. Remind yourself this is only a test of your will. The Devil loves to play games with people. He loves to test the waters. He loves hunting for his prey. He embraces you at your weakest moments.

Choosing the way of God is hard. It's a life of discipline. It's a life filled with truth. It's a life of humility. It's my belief, once you truly deny Satan, deception, deceit, greed, vanity, etc...and accept Jesus in your life, you'll reap great benefits.

Last night, I read the miraculous testimony of Brian "Head" Welch called Save me from Myself. He was a guitarist in the band Korn. I used to be a big fan of Korn, so I was drawn to his book this past Sunday. I'm very glad I did. It proves how powerful Jesus is in transforming lives. It provided the hope I needed to stay on my narrow path. It provided me with "God's Wink".

I was raised Catholic, but I don't choose to follow Catholicism.

After speaking to my mother for hours last night on this very subject, I decided I want to be Baptised, again. I was Baptised as a baby in the Catholic Church but it wasn't my choice. I'd prefer to make this a commitment because it's my choice.

My mission is to find a suitable church which I feel comfortable giving my testimony and washing away my "sins". I'm open to suggestions.

My point today is although I feel lonely for making my decision at the present moment, I know in my heart it's the right choice. I know I'm not alone. I know God is all around me. I'll no longer be weak. I'll continue to grow strong. I'll continue along my path, and I'll lead by example.

I'm willing to document all the details to help someone else see the light.

I started a healing process to forgive everyone who has wronged me. It's been a hard process. I've been sucked into unnecessary circumstances, at moments, but overall it's allowed me to drop the extra baggage I'd been carrying. I've also apologized for the things I've done to hinder our friendship/relationship, as well. I believe it's vital to forgive in order to grow.

I'm only preparing myself...Are you?

What's on your Agenda?

"To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest". Mahatma Gandhi

Motive is your reason for doing something. It's the "why" that motivates the "what".

Everything we do has a motive behind it. People who demonstrate a genuine caring nature inspire the most trust. You're not going to trust someone who could care less about you, are you? Caring people have caring values, they care about purposes, they care about their quality of work, they care about society, etc...

If you genuinely don't care- that's fine. It's best to stay transparent. Pretending you care, when you really don't, will only lead to roadblocks created out of suspicion and distrust. Who wants the reputation of a "phony"? Personally, when someone is being fake to me, I feel as if it's an insult to my intelligence, wouldn't you agree?

Motive stimulates Agenda. It's what you intend to do beause of your motive.

I've found conducting business/relationships with people who have your best interests in mind, as well as their own, lead to win-win situation for all. People with a self-serving agenda don't care about you, they'll do whatever it takes to get ahead. And yes they may get results, but they eventually fall flat on their butts. You don't want that for yourself, now do you? An ideal situation would be to achieve certain results and sustain them.

Your motive and agenda will become clear with your behavior. Your behavior is your actions.

You can say this or that, but your behavior proves your true intentions. Acting in the best interest of others typically comes from a person who has a caring motive and an agenda of mutual benefit.

I've encountered numerous people who claim they care, but inside they have a "I could really care less about you attitude - it's all about me". This behavior is deceitful. This isn't a lasting friendship, realtionship, or business deal. Someone loses and someone wins. Someone's credibility is put on the chopping block, and trust is lost.

Your intentions can't be faked. It's what comes from the heart. But it is something you can definitely work on and improve.

Everyone faces challenges of intentions. We may not be completely transparent at all times. And we pay for it. It's kinda like breaking the agreement with your credit card holder to pay the amount owed by a certain date and time. If you're late you pay penalties. It makes it that much harder to pay the balance off. Your interest rate increases and sometimes it affects your credit score.

This determines what you attract into your life.

This movie is a fine example of the negative outcome of bad intentions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niaeMfvwdUs

If you haven't seen it, watch it, maybe a few of you will change the intent of your heart, or atleast improve it.

"The measure of your life will not be in what you accumulate but in what you give away". Dr. Wayne Dyer - The Power of Intention

I volunteered my time this Saturday helping Habitat for Humanity making repairs on homes of less fortunate people. (money wise) If you'd like to help, here's the link to their website. They have many openings throughout the week, as well. They'd love your help.

Trust Changes Everything

In order to build trust with others, we must first start with ourselves.

Ask yourself:

1. Am I Credible?
2. Am I someone people (including myself) can trust?
3. Do people believe me?

I've learned the hard way that trust is based upon 2 things: Character and Competence.

It takes time to build your character, credibility, and competence after it's lost. I firmly believe it can be rebuilt, if the person has truly changed/reformed.

I will use myself as an example.

I work for my father's company as his office manager. I used to come in late, take days off, roll out of bed and roll into work in my pajamas, slack on doing my work (granted I always did it, but WHEN was the main question), etc... Basically I was unorganized, ungrateful, unappreciative, and disrespectful (not verbally, but my lack of motivation for my job speaks volumes) I'd always make excuses and justify things by telling myself and my dad I could be worse. Why I thought that statement was acceptable is beyond me, now. I continued to let my dad down, his trust and confidence continued to fall. My dad did kept hope in me because I hadn't always been that way. I'd always been independent, dependable, and trustworthy. I'm positive if I hadn't worked for my father, I'd have been standing in the unemployment line.

This was my character. This is how I represented myself. It created problems in all areas of my life. I decided I wanted to "get it together" and do things right. I had better results in life when I did what I was supposed to do.

I started making small changes in my life. I made a conscious effort to be on time for work every morning. I made a decision to dress more appropriately for an office environment, as I would for any other job. I removed myself from internet sites which took my attention away from my work. I made a conscious effort to finish my work the same day it was/is given to me. i.e...I used to only file on Fridays, now I file everyday. I no longer procrastinate.

By improving myself, I improved my work relationship with my father. I've re-established trust. He now counts on me and believes I'm an asset to his company.

Not only has this improved my work habits but it has improved many other areas in my life. I no longer have to drive home in the evenings after work to get ready for a meeting/gathering after work. (Let me state I live an hour north of my office) I'm already dressed. I no longer have to stay late to finish work I procrastinated all day to do. This has helped me keep my commitments and improve my punctuality, tremendously.

Trust starts with you. You have to trust yourself before anyone else can trust you. Self trust is vital to self improvement and to building trust in others.

YOU CAN DO IT, IF YOU TRY!!! It's never too late to start.

It's more than saying "I'm Sorry"!

Today I want to talk about Forgiveness.

Recently, I've had a change of heart. I'm not one to hold grudges, but I've grown tired of being repeatedly deceived. I eliminated quite a few people from my life, which I felt weren't beneficial. I felt drained in all areas and decided to "clean house".

As I'm in the process, I encountered someone you can call an "enemy", and actually took the time to get to know her. Instead of focusing on past issues, we've focused on NOW. We know we both said and did immature, dramatical, and just plain mean things to each other. There's no need in justifying our actions. Either way, we made bad decisions concerning our issues with each other towards each other.

My mentality is on a different level. I don't have excuses for my actions. But I learned alot from making those mistakes and have grown as a person. The next step was to forgive the person who I felt wronged me and vice versa.

Now that I know her, I feel as if I've robbed myself of a good friend for a long time now. We're alot alike. I'm glad we put our differences behind us. I know we have a solid lasting friendship. God couldn't have placed anyone better into my life at a better moment.

As I'm watching a movie last night, one of the character's made a statement about forgiving others. You forgive other people for yourself. To rid yourself from the pain of being hurt, to be able to move forward in life, and not let it hurt you. You forgive to be forgiven. God forgives you for your sins. He doesn't torture or retaliate. He forgives because he loves us/you.

Forgive someone today. It feels good to set yourself free.
