YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

I haven't blogged in over a year. I'm blogging today to share some very important, yet private, information. As many of you may know, my Dad has stage IV renal cell carcinoma aka Kidney cancer. After going on a vegan diet, doing colonics once a week, and seeing a holistic doctor, (instead of doing trial studies because chemo isn't an option at this stage)he is now cancer free in his lungs. He went to a regular doctor due to being sick with bronchitis. They decided to do an x-ray of his chest to see if it were related to his tumors and VIOLA...the cancer was no longer detectable. All of this is due to his healthy lifestyle and way of living. Your diet and nutrition is everything. Think before you decide to buy a meal from McDonald's or spend your money on junk food. Eating healthy and living right can prevent cancer from affecting your life or possibly taking it, along with many other health risks...that's all for today!!! Enjoy it!!!

Sometimes what you want isn't what you need

Well hello!

I haven't blogged in over a year. I took time away from my routine to reflect upon life and create something new and different for myself without sharing it over the internet.

Numerous things have changed, and changed, and changed, since I last blogged.
Writing has always been a therapeutic outlet for myself but like clockwork I grew bored with it.
I always start something and never finish it. I think it's what I want until: 1. I get it 2. I change my mind or 3. something better comes along.

ANYWHO, the reason I'm here today is to get a few things off my chest...

I've experienced a pretty rough week. I firmly believe the company you keep or encounter sets the mood for every situation, it takes a strong person to overcome someone with negative energy. Some people don't realize how much negative energy they carry with themselves and how it their energy attaches itself to others.

For example, have you ever some across someone who is angry or upset, then your mood becomes not so great? You might even become angry yourself? It doesn't feel good, does it? That's negative energy.
Have you ever encountered someone with the best attitude towards life and it lifts your spirits? That's positive energy.

I had the joy of spending time with someone I'd consider emotional. Their personality lacks consistency. This person makes promises they have no intentions of keeping because at the time it sounds like a good idea. When the time comes to fulfill their commitment, they flake. One minute they're happy and the next minute their mood changes due to outside circumstances or because they're trapped within their own thoughts. Instead of focusing on what is in front of them, they allow outside influences to control their attitude. Their thoughts get the best of them and they become NO FUN to be around.
Granted, this person has great moments, as well, but they're few and far between. I felt like an emotional babysitter. Everything would be going great and then BAM! Their bi-polar personality would kick-in and I'm sitting there thinking "WTF is wrong, now?"...
I had no real choice in the matter, I was staying in the same room as this person. I tried to make the best of it and I did the best I could to lift their spirits but by the 3rd day it became apparent that this person creates most of their problems for themselves. Instead of avoiding certain situations which caused them to become irritable or upset, they entertained it. So we'd be back to square one, AGAIN.

I allowed this person's issues to affect my life. I've had pretty rough week and I've only worked 2 days. What should have been a funfilled weekend turned into a mentally exhausting trip. It completely drained me to be around this person. It was a lot to handle for having really just met them.

So here I am dumping my negative emotions and all this negative energy into this blog praying that it goes away. It's done nothing but attract unwanted issues and circumstances into my life.

Last night, I finally reached my breaking point. Sometimes it's good to let it all out with a good cry session and to tell certain people where to go. Maybe they need to hear it. Maybe they've heard it before a time or two or 10...and it was about time, they heard it, again. Who knows? Who cares? I needed to let it out. It's okay to crash and burn. But don't miss the lesson.

I can't save someone from their own misery. YOU can't save someone. If someone chooses to be miserable, let them be, don't let it affect you. I have too many wonderful things in life to allow one person's misery to overshadow all the GREATNESS!!!

Happy Friday!!!

The Fighter within...

My dad has been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. RCC translates to kidney cancer. After extensive research on his cancer, I wanted to explain to everyone the basics of cancer, and how one's diet can affect their body.

Every adult has some cancer cells in their body and they CAN develop new cancer cells. This is usually no big deal because the immune system is usually capable of dealing with a number of cancer cells.

A person "gets cancer" when there is an imbalance between the number of new cancer cells and the strength of the immune system. Cancer is caused by an abnormally high number of cancer cells being formed or the immune system is weaker than it should be, or maybe BOTH.

When you see something being blamed as a "cause of cancer," it's usually something which can cause more than a normal number of cancer cells to form (i.e exposure to asbestos, cigarette smoke, chemicals) or weakens the immune system. Simply stated, the things that "cause cancer" are things that disrupt the balance between the number of cancer cells in the body and the strength their immune system.

But, please remember, the number of cancer cells in a person's body nor the strength of their immune system has anything to do with the actual formation of new cancer cells.

I'm going to compare this to an infestation of termites in your home. You call Pest Control to get rid of the termites (your immune system) and the number of termites in your home is a function of how fast they breed/spread (the number of cancer cells in your body).

But the Pest Control man, nor how fast the termites breed has anything to do with why the termites got inside your home in the first place.

Learning what causes a normal cell to turn into a cancer cell is the equivalent of learning how the termites originally got inside your home. Once inside your home, the battle between the Pest Control man and the termite breeding begins.

Why is knowing how a normal cell changes into a cancer cell important? It's important because cancer treatments can be designed to turn cancer cells back into normal cells.

It's important to understand because an understanding of how cancer cells form in the first place can help you understand why some cancer treatments are better than others. It helps you understand what you can do to contribute to defeating it.

You need to know your focal point (the location of cancer cells) to know where to aim to kill those cancer cells. The Pest Control man needs to know where the termites are located to kill the termites.

Which is why I want to express how important it is for everyone to change their diet. We'll refer to it as preventive maintence.

My dad and I are on a Vegan diet, as of Saturday. We'll no longer consume alcohol, meat, dairy products, sugar, caffeine, or salt. It'll rid is body of toxins, kill cancer cells, help produce new cells, and help him remain in good health. I'll explain the "in's & out's" of his diet on a later day.

Work is starting to get busy...

Life's not fair

I went to Tampa for the weekend with a few of my friends. It was the best time I've had in a long time. The scenery is beautiful, the people are happy, and the water is relaxing. It was a totally 80's weekend, so they played old school rap all weekend long. It made me feel like a kid again. Happy Folks in the picture above:-)

Anyways, I get home to get back to my normal daily grind; I've opted to take on a second job to save money to purchase a home. It'll leave very little personal time for me, but sometimes you have to sacrifice to get what you want.

Reality has settled.

I want to vent to all you people today. Do I want to work a second job? NO Do I need to work a second job? YES

I'm a single mother who receives help from my family without them; I don't know where I'd be. My mother helps me tremendously. She is basically the father and I'm the mother in the situation because we share duties. I.e. I drop Tre off at school. She picks him up.

HERE'S A TYPICAL MICHELLE DAY:

It's my responsibility to get Tre up every morning, feed him breakfast, make his lunch, pack him a snack, get him dressed, fix his hair, and make sure he brushes his teeth along with getting myself ready each morning for work.
I pack up his belongings for school and get him into the car. To sit in school Traffic for about 30 minutes each morning before driving another 45 minutes to work.
I arrive 30 minutes later these days due to Tre's school not allowing parent drop-off until 7:40.
Anywho, I'm here until about 5:00 everyday. Once I arrive home, dinner needs to be prepared for Tre, and myself. Tre has reading homework to do and guess who has to do it with him...Ding! Ding! Ding! ME!
This doesn't include his 2 days a week soccer practice for an hour starting at 6:00. His Saturday morning soccer games at 9:00 and his Flag Football games on Sunday at 2:00 (starting this Sunday)
I'm exhausted. All this is costly. I'm tired of my parents help (although I appreciate it more than they realize).

His DAD lives in West Virginia. I receive little help from him due to the distance between us, but it still isn't fair. His dad chose to reside in West Virginia and miss out on Tre's upbringing (for the most part). His dad doesn't pay me child support on a consistent basis so I can't count on "child support" to help with any of Tre's activities or necessities. If I waited for his money to arrive, Tre would starve, so here I am COMPLAINING!

I'd love to be a stay-at-home-mother and tend to my motherly duties on a daily basis but I don't have that option. I do what I have to do, to provide for my child. My goal is to make sure my child's life is better than mine, to keep him protected, and out of harm.

It's damaging to a child's upbringing to not have their parents or family involved. It hurts to be teased at school for the clothes you wear, the house you live in, the car your parent's drive, or even for your parent's behavior, etc.

It isn't fair. I had a child with someone who has the option of whether he wants the responsibility. If I had the same attitude as his father, where would my son be at this moment in time? He wouldn't be in my care; I know that's for sure.

It's very easy for people to pass judgment, but until you're put in a position to make certain decisions, you don't know what you'd do.

It's easy to tell someone how to be happy or how to live their life, but we all know it's much easier said than done.

I know plenty of people who struggle to take care of themselves.

I'm going to jump off my soapbox. Thanks for listening enjoy your day!!!
